泵浦合束器的基本原理是對(duì)光纖塑形后直接利用溶接的方式實(shí)現(xiàn)光束耦合,為達(dá)到高的耦合效率,泵浦合束器滿足的條件是:耦合輸入光纖(束)的數(shù)值孔徑不大于親合輸出光纖的數(shù)值孔徑NAout即:
NAin<=NAout(式1-1)
泵浦合束器的分類可以從結(jié)構(gòu)上分為兩大類,一類為NX1型泵浦合束器,另一類為(N+1)XI型泵浦合束器。NX1型泵浦合束器主要應(yīng)用于光纖振蕩器,而由于(N+1)X1型泵浦合束器結(jié)構(gòu)中有一根信號(hào)光纖貫穿其中,因此(N+1)XI型泵浦合束器主要應(yīng)用于光纖放大器。
NX1型泵浦合束器是一種端泵型泵浦合束器。將N根泵浦光纖合束拉錐后與1根輸出光纖館接,此即形成了NX1型泵浦合束器。
按照公式的要求,拉錐后的單根泵浦光纖的數(shù)值孔徑AM,應(yīng)不大于輸出光纖的數(shù)值孔徑,而泵浦光纖拉錐前的數(shù)值孔徑AH?與其拉錐后的數(shù)值孔徑AM,的關(guān)系為:
NAin*Din=Nat*Dout(式1-2)
其中,為拉錐前輸入光纖束的總直徑,為拉錐后輸入光纖束的直徑,即輸出光纖的直徑,將可得:
NAin*Din<=NAout*Dout(式1-3)
式(1-3)即為NX1型泵浦合束器應(yīng)滿足的條件。
(N+1)XI型泵浦合束器的結(jié)構(gòu)有兩種,一種為端泵型,另一種為側(cè)泵型。端泵型(N+1)XI泵浦合束器的結(jié)構(gòu)與NX1型泵浦合束器基本一致,區(qū)別在于端錄型(N+1)XI泵浦合束器的輸入光纖束由N根泵浦光纖圍繞一根信號(hào)光纖組成,因此信號(hào)光纖也被拉錐了。為實(shí)現(xiàn)高的泵浦親合效率,端泵浦型的(N+1)XI泵浦合束器也需要滿足式(1-3)的要求。側(cè)泵型(N+1)XI泵浦合束器則是在一根信號(hào)光纖的外圍分布N根被拉錐的泵浦光纖,而信號(hào)光纖并沒(méi)有被拉錐。為達(dá)到高的耦合效率,它亦需滿足式1的條件,即從側(cè)面耦合到輸出光纖的光線角度不應(yīng)大于輸出光纖的臨界角。
