Application
FuGENE®  6 Transfection Reagent is a non-liposomal multicomponent reagent that is perfect for experiments involving cellular analysis. Its characteristics (listed under "Benefits" below) make it ideal for transfection of a wide range of cells.

Benefits
Works on a broad range of cells, including many "hard-to-transfect" cells.
More likely to generate results that are physiologically relevant, since it has very low cytotoxicity and does not disturb cell mechanisms.  A recent gene-chip study (Figure 1) demonstrated that transfection reagent from a competitor significantly influenced the expression of more than 2,000 genes, while  FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent influenced only 30 genes.

Allows you to transfect in serum-free or serum-containing media. FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent is highly efficient both in the presence and absence of serum (Figure 2). In most cases, the same cell culture medium used for routine cell culture (e.g., one that contains serum) can also be used during transfection. This is especially useful in cases where transfection efficiency improves in the presence of serum.
Important note: The FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent and plasmid complex can be added directly to cells that are c*ted in complete medium with FCS and other additives. However, serum-free medium without any additives must be used for dilution of FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent and the formation of the complex.

COS-1 cells were transfected with pCMV β-Gal plasmid (2 µg/well) and varying amounts of FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent. Cells were lysed and harvested 27 hours post-transfection. 5 µl of lysate was analyzed using the Chemiluminescence β-Gal Reporter Gene Assay.
Saves time and effort by eliminating many handling steps. Procedures that use FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent are simple and require minimal optimization (Figure 3).

Saves money, since you use less reagent per transfection. You can perform more transfections with 1 ml of FuGENE® 6 Transfection Reagent than with 1 ml of reagents from competitor.
Generates a higher yield of stable transfections, since it produces higher cell-survival rates.
